Tools for teaching-"Teaching Without Words"

The following clip explains how words pose an obstacle to learning, most especially for our English Language Learners. The narrator of the clip is Matthew Peterson, the creator of an instructional software that teaches math without using language. Peterson provides games that teachers can use within the classroom as a way of being effective without having to speak.

  1. Wow! I never thought that you can teach math or any subject without using words. This is fascinating and thank you so much for sharing this video. I know Mr. Peterson mentioned in the video about that one kid who's autistic and only says one word but after using this program he was able to say more words in a complete sentence. That is great but will this program good for teaching language to ESL students? How can you teach language without words?

Don't get me wrong, this is a great tool for teaching but I am just concern about using it to teach language to ESL students.
